Flightworks

CAR/RAC is brought to you by Flightworks Inc - a non-profit group with the goals of promoting aviation awareness in the region.

The Association has its roots in the legendary air shows that were held at Carp in the mid eighties. These shows featured some of the finest acts of the day and almost overnight created a reputation among air show performers that attracted back the best. For the spectators too there was a unique atmosphere of being part of the show rather than a remote observer.

Growth encouraged the move to the Ottawa International Airport, and the larger facilities there allowed for bigger aircraft on display. However among the association's long time members the dream has always been to take the show back to its friendly roots, with particular emphasis on the participants. With the active support of the Canada Aviation Museum, this possibility has become a reality.

The world of air shows has changed since the days of the early Carp shows. Security has become a major issue, military resources have become scarcer, insurance costs have sky-rocketed. The huge military dominated jet and warbird shows are becoming rarer. CAR/RAC is a return to the origins of the association, an attempt to capture the friendliness and closer atmosphere of an older-time air show. There will be much for the whole family to see and do, as well as thrills for the airplane enthusiast. We hope you will join us in recreating the special times.
